About Medjumbe Island

  • Close Panel

Medjumbe Island is a private island offering exclusive accommodation and barefoot luxury in a totally unspoilt location. There are just 13 beach chalets, all set apart so offering privacy and seclusion. The chalets are a blend of style and simplicity with palm thatch roofs, air conditioning, safe, minibar, ceiling fan and satellite TV. Each has an indoor and outdoor shower and a private plunge pool with views of the Indian Ocean and your own hammock for ultimate relaxation.

Nearby are the central guests areas - dining room, upstairs lounge, bar, decks and patios. There is a also a large swimming pool with sunloungers and parasols. The food is second to none with a range of fresh fruit and local fresh seafood.

Although the perfect place for relaxtion, Medjumbe also offers a variety of activities. This area is known for its clear waters and the diving is excellent - shoals of fish, coral reefs, dolphins and turtles may be seen. Medjumbe has its own dive master. Snorkelling, sailing, kayaking and fishing can all be arranged. There is also a private dhow and sunset cruises are popular. Enjoy the clear waters that reach 30°C in summer and rarely less than 26°C in winter, you will discover a marine ecosystem that is absolutely world class. Medjumbe's spectacular coral reef with its dazzling color palette of fish remains little explored.

Enjoy this beautiful private island, the attentive (but not intrusive) service, adapt to the slower pace of life and simply enjoy your castaway surroundings.

Pricing guidelines for Mozambique

  • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £700 to £900 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). Return flights from Joburg to Pemba (in northern Mozambique) will add on roughly £400. Mozambique combines well with South Africa, Malawi and southern Tanzania.

For each accommodation on this website you will find an indication of the price. The bands are based on the price per person per night at peak season and are represented by the following values for this country:

  £50 to £150
