Dugong Beach Lodge is situated on the East-African Seaboard, on the Coast of Mozambique within the boundaries of the "Vilanculos Coastal Wildlife Sanctuary". Dugong Lodge provides 2 biospheres, combining beach and bush well. Most importantly, it is one of the only sites in the world where the near extinct dugong is found.
Dugong Lodge consists of 10 luxury beach chalets built on raised decks in the shade of msasa trees. There are also two luxury villas each having two bedrooms and one plunge pool. The rooms all have outdoor showers and large feature baths. The centrally located restaurant serves a variety of fresh seafood and other cuisine. The lodge is suitable for both families and couples. There is a 'little legends' programme for children.
The 30,000 hectare Vilanculos Wildlife Sanctuary has a diverse eco-system of bush and wetland. Marine life includes a large range of fish, dolphins and the rare dugong. Guests can go diving amongst the deepwater reefs to explore this fascinating environment. Big deep-sea game fishing of marlin and barracuda is also a popular pasttime. Other activities offered here include boat cruises, water skiing, island tours and visits to neighbouring islands.
Complimentary activities include windsurfing, snorkelling, hobie cat, kayaking, walking trails, bird watching. Diving, fishing, boat excursions and massages are all available as extras.
