Sofitel Essaouira is a modern hotel located on Essaouira's seafront, with a private beach and swimming pool and within easy walking distance of the medina and harbour. The reception is staffed 24 hours a day and staff can advise on local activities, which include a range of watersports, bicycle hire, golf and horse riding.
The hotel has a large outdoor pool with a poolside bar serving drinks and snacks throughout the day. Guests can relax here on the sunloungers or hammocks. The Institute, which overlooks the pool, offers a range of treatments including reflexology and massage. There is also a tradtional hammam, jacuzzi, solarium, spa bath and beauty salon. Please note The Institute will be closed from 4th to 16th July 2010. The hotel also has a fitness centre.
Sofitel Essaouira offers a choice of dining options. 'Ailen' serves local Moroccan fare and is decorated in a thousand and one nights theme. 'Arganier' serves international cuisine with an emphasis on healthy eating. 'Cote Plage' is the beach restaurant which specialises in grilled meats and seafood. It also has an open terrace for al fresco dining. All restaurants are air conditioned. There are 2 bars: 'La Scala' is located near the reception area and is open during the day, 'The Mogador Club' is a cosy piano bar open from 5 each afternoon, so ideal for sundowners.
There are 117 rooms and suites arranged over 2 floors, all with ensuite bathroom with shower and bath, air conditioning, TV, safe and minibar. There is free bottled water and 24 hour room service. All rooms have either a balcony or terrace with views of the medina, pool or ocean. All rooms are pleasantly furnished and the suites are very spacious.
The hotel has a private beach where guests can relax. A range of watersports is available nearby including windsurfing, surfing and parasailing. Guests can also explore the area by bike and the hotel can arrange horse riding. The Golf de Mogador course is easily accessed, a course designed by Gary Player. The busy harbour within walking distance, as are the medina and souks, which are well worth a visit.
