About Riad Kniza

  • Close Panel

The Riad Kniza is located close to the Bab Doukala in the old historic medina of Marrakech, about 15 minutes walk from the Djemaa El Fna and the city's fabulous souks.

The Moroccan owner, a former guide and antiques dealer, has employed some of the best craftsmen in the country to create a real gem of Moorish architecture. The riad has been in the family for over 200 years.

Eleven tastefully-furnished rooms are well equipped with satellite TV, air conditioning and even Wi-Fi internet access, with laptop rental for wireless connection available on request. The English-speaking staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and the Moroccan cuisine available in the riad is justifiably famous.

The riad has a swimming pool and hamman, perfect for relaxing after a day exploring the city.

This is not really a riad for young children, indeed only children over 12 yrs can stay. It is however perfect for couples or friends wanting a quiet, stylish place to escape to in Marrakech.

Pricing guidelines for Morocco

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £200 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). We offer flights with Royal Air Maroc which has daily flights to Marrakech as well as good connections to other cities.

For a specific personal quote based on any tailor made itinerary you have in mind, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help you.

  • Example tripPrice per person
  • 9 day holiday including the desertBetween £1500 and £2000
  • 2 weeks holiday taking in various sites in Morocco, using good accommodationBetween £1500 and £2500
  • 5 day short break (one destination)From about £500+
  • 1 week trekking holiday (eg Toubkal trek)Between £600 and £800

I’d say this place encapsulates stylish Moroccan elegance. Everything about it is done well. The owners are Moroccan, which for a riad is a rarity even though there are almost a thousand riads in Marrakech now. Most riad owners are European.  The riad is immaculate, the staff are very professional (and all fromt of house staff speak English), and the food is truly fabulous - indeed some of the best I’ve ever eaten in Morocco. The manager, Kamal, is one of the owners, and a lovely man to sit a chat to.
There are nooks and crannies to sit a relax everywhere. Even the rooftop is in different sections so that you can always find a quiet corner to yourself.
I didn’t have time to try the hammam, but a guest raved about her hammam and massage.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here, and would highly recommend it if you are looking for a top end riad. It’s very hard to beat.
