About Riad Assouel

  • Close Panel

Riad Assouel's wonderful blend of traditional touches, beautiful room decor and excellent service make it a perfect base for your holiday in Marrakech, located in the heart of the 'red city's' medina.

This large riad dates back to the end of the 17th Century and, with a traditional Arabic style, was completely restored and refitted in 2005 by the architect Pierre Henri Bouchacourt.

It has eight beautifully decorated rooms with features such as a private safe, internet connections, air-conditioning and heating in all parts of the riad. All rooms have ensuite bath or shower. Other facilities include a dining room and living room with fireplaces, reception area, bar, lovely roof terrace with a shaded area, swimming pool (5m x 3m), hammam and bhou (open living room). Breakfast is included and both lunch and dinner can be provided on request.

Pricing guidelines for Morocco

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £200 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). We offer flights with Royal Air Maroc which has daily flights to Marrakech as well as good connections to other cities.

For each accommodation on this website you will find an indication of the price. The bands are based on the price per person per night at peak season and are represented by the following values for this country:

A very friendly lady called Moutha manages this riad. She can’t do enough to help, and really makes Assouel a lovely choice.
The rooms are not huge, but they’re nicely done, and the main courtyard has a pool, bar and pleasant sitting areas. There is also a small simple hammam if you fancy a steam (but you need to give 2 hrs notice). It’s about a 20 minute walk to the Djemmaa el Fna, so not the closest, but even so, I’d still be very happy to use this riad as my Marrakech base.

Amanda Marks (Tribes director), Nov 2010.

Service is everything at Riad Assouel. Moutha will do anything to please her guests and make sure they have a fantastic experience in Marrakech.

It’s also a wonderful riad with a modest feel to it, tastefully decorated rooms and lovely traditional touches including an excellent roof terrace. If you really wanted to try a new dish but it’s not on the menu, no problem, Moutha and her staff will cater to your requests.
