About Dar El Assafir

  • Close Panel
Dar el Assafir is a traditional guest-house built within the old Medina walls in the Bar Doukala region of Marrakech, only 15 minutes walk from the entertaining Djemmaa el-Fna. Behind the impressive ochre walls you will find a traditional Moroccan home, set around two courtyards. One contains a mosaic-decorated swimming pool with a spacious area for relaxation or enjoying your meals. The other courtyard features a small, bright exotic garden. Inside the walls of the Dar El Assafir it is remarkably peaceful, with only the birds breaking the silence with their cheerful chattering. Translated into English ‘Dar El Assafir’ means the ‘House of birds’.

There are six rooms, all decorated differently with their own charm and style and each looking out onto one of the courtyards. In addition, there is the ‘Swallow Apartment’, which comprises three bedrooms and two bathrooms, making it ideal for families or small groups. There is a comfortable and cosy sitting room and dining room. Most stays are on a bed and breakfast basis (to enable you the freedom to enjoy a number of Marrakech'’s fabulous restaurants), but it is also easy to arrange evening meals within the guesthouse. From the ochre red roof terrace, you can enjoy the views and gentle hum of the ancient city, while in the evening, the stunning sunset should not be missed.

Pricing guidelines for Morocco

  • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £250 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). Many clients book their own flights with Easyjet or similar.

For a specific personal quote based on any tailor made itinerary you have in mind, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help you.
