Auberge Aquarella offers pleasant accommodation in a wonderful location overlooking the lagoon of Vieux Grand Port in Mahebourg.
It's basic but comfortable and a great place to see Mahebourg and meet the real local people, gettting away from the touristy beaches.
All guest rooms have ensuite bathrooms and either fans or air conditioning. Some also have balconies overlooking the garden or the bay. A generous continental breakfast makes a good start to the day. The auberge can also offer evening meals on request. There is a lovely small pool and the Auberge is located at the edge of the town on a sleepy street, so it is a nice peaceful location.
There are many watersports available on nearby beaches including snorkelling, diving, kite surfing, catamaran cruises and deep sea fishing.
The centre of the historic town of Mahebourg is just 5 minutes walk away. Here you can find the Naval Museum, in a grand Creole mansion, charting the different phases of Mauritian history and with a collection of objects salvaged from local shipwrecks. Mahebourg also has an attractive waterfront, a good place for an evening stroll and has some lovely local restaurants serving fresh seafood and local cuisine.
The nature reserve of Ile aux Aigrette is within easy reach.
