A colonial style house with three bedrooms set in lovely tropical gardens in a tranquil inland spot on Rodrigues Island at Montagne Bois Noir.
Each of the rooms has en-suite facilities and are individually furnished in bright, clean colours. The lounge and dining areas are full of the owners artifacts and collections from travels.
The owners, Marie-Line and Fernand were originally from Belgium but settled on Rodrigues some time ago. Marie started cooking for friends and then groups of travellers brought in by their friends and word spread about the amazing food and the guest house opened five years ago! Since then the business has expanded and there is an impressive industrial kitchen and produce shop selling 'Marie's Island Produce' a selection of honey, spices, chutneys and jams, sausages, salts and much more. Also home made are a selection of aperitifs and wines to be enjoyed with the meals here.
The gardens were planted around the house and have grown quickly in the tropical climate giving a feeling of being in a tranquil oasis in the middle of this generally barren island. There are chickens, bee hives and fruits growing alongside the flowers and trees.
Excursions can be booked for you by the owners and you can hire cars or scooters to get around Rodrigues, there are also buses that pass nearby to take you around the island. The beaches are not far away, about 10 minutes and hiking trails take you around the whole island exposing more bays and hidden coves.
