About Le Saint Geran

  • Close Panel

Le Saint Geran is a world famous hotel, known for its location, superb facilities and first class service. First opened in 1975 so one of the longest established, the hotel underwent an extensive refit in 1999 and is once again one of the finest hotels on the island.

Set in 60 acres of tropical gardens, Le Saint Geran is on the Belle Mare Peninsular, with the Indian Ocean to one side and a sheltered lagoon on the other. There are almost 2kms of unspoilt beach and pristine sand.

Guest accommodation is in suites, with panoramic windows and private terraces or balconies with views of either the ocean or the lagoon. The ensuite bathrooms are spacious and well-planned, with bathtub and walk-in shower and separate toilet. Each suite also has a dressing room. Additional facilities include minibar, safe, air conditioning, TV, CD/DVD player, internet access, phone and coffee making facilities. Each suite has its own door opening onto the gardens.

There is no shortage of things to do, with watersports being one of the most popular activities. There are 3 pools, the main pool, a children's pool and an 18-metre lap pool in the spa. As well as swimming, guests can go snorkelling, kayaking, dinghy sailing, waterskiing and windsurfing. Cruises in the glass bottom boat are popular. Other activities include nature walks, yoga, beach volleyball, tennis, cycling and golf - the hotel has its own Gary Player 9-hole course. Diving, parasailing, catamaran cruises and horse riding are available at an extra charge.

Dining is a hlighlight. The buffet style breakfast is served in 'La Terrace' restaurant and consists of eggs, freshly baked bread, pastries, local cheeses as well as fresh fruit. Lunch can be taken at 'Rasoi by Vincent', where wraps, sandwiches, salads, grills and Indian-style mezzeh dishes are served. This Indian themed restaurant serves a selection of Indian inspired dishes in the evening. 'Spoon des Iles' is a goumet restaurant, by Michelin-star chef Alain Ducasse, and specialises in multi-ethnic cuisines and fine wines. There is also a choice of bars, including a poolside bar and a beach bar which is open during the day. The KidsOnly club will look after the children with a series of supervised activities. The hotel can arrange excursions to other parts of the island, to nature reserves and hiking trails and to the capital, Port Louis, with its bustling market and popular waterfront area.

The Spa
Le Saint Gean has an internatinally acclaimed spa, with 8 treatment rooms, a separate Garden Spa Pavillion and Beauty Centre. The spa is set in the hotel's lush tropical gardens and offers holistic treatments and fitness programmes. There is a full range of massage therapies and specialist advisors are available to guide guests. Massages can relax, restore and elevate and can be combined with other therapies such as scrubs and wraps to make a complete treatment programme. Swedish, sports and hot stone massages are offered, as is reflexology. As well as scrubs and wraps, the spa offers sun treatments to prepare skin for the sun or rehydrate it after sunbathing and relaxing, warming baths. The spa also has a lap pool, hydrojet and a sauna
The Spa Pavillion is reached via a walkway through the gardens. It is suspended over running water. In this secluded setting, listening to the sounds of nature, guests can enjoy therapeutic treatments.
The Beauty salon specialises in hairdressing, chiropody and pedicure - pure pampering!
Yoga classes are available in groups or individual session. This is an ideal way to stretch the body and ease the mind, tone muscles and induce relaxation.
Le Saint Geran offers various fitness packages and personal training, including aqua fitness, circuit training and boxing sessions.

Pricing guidelines for Mauritius

  • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £700 to £900 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). Mauritius combines well with South Africa.

For each accommodation on this website you will find an indication of the price. The bands are based on the price per person per night at peak season and are represented by the following values for this country:

My pre-conceived ideas on this hotel went completely out of the window!  I thought it would be a big, busy resort.  It IS a big busy hotel but doesn't feel like it.  It does have a very upmarket feel to it and the huge entry doors are to be seen to be believed - very imposing!  But because the site covers such a huge area and there are tall palms everywhere, it's not crowded at all.  The beach is nice and private being on the end of a peninsular (many beaches on Mauritius are public so have people wandering around) and the lagoon side of the hotel is very tranquil.  We had lunch in the Indian restaurant on the lagoon and I have to say it was absolutely superb - the best Indian food I've ever tasted!  If you can afford this place, go for it - spoil yourself!
