About La Colliniere

  • Close Panel

A small, owner run friendly guest house in the hills of the village of Brule with lovely views across to the sea. It is a tropical haven in the hills a great place for calm and rest. Once night has fallen, Rodrigue's endemic fruit bats often fly through the garden on their way to and from the woods behind.

There are just three (double) rooms, all en-suite with showers and all with nice views and balcony. There is an extra 'spare' room which is more basic but can be used with two twin beds for children with it's own en-suite also. The garden slopes down the hill, you can see across the valley of Riviere Banane to the turquoise waters of the lagoon. There is a shady dining terrace.

The owners have been here 13 years and live here with their children and dogs who give you a great welcome! Fifi is a wonderful host and an excellent cook! Food here is cooked in creole, european and thai style. Her husband is a dive master and runs a dive school at Cotton Bay, so this is a great place to stay if diving is your thing! Transfers from the guest house to the dive centre take 10 minutes.

Getting around the island, cars, scooters or motorbikes can be rented or there is a bus stop at the end of the street, linking you to the beaches of Cotton and St Francois and in the other direction to Mount Lubin (inland) and Port Mathurin (north - the capital). The guest house can organise picnics for you and excursions by bus can be arranged all over the island and commonly to 'Ile aux chats', 'Hermitage Island' or 'Ile aux cocos'. Lunches in typical local restaurants can also be arranged.

Pricing guidelines for Mauritius

  • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £700 to £900 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). Mauritius combines well with South Africa.

For each accommodation on this website you will find an indication of the price. The bands are based on the price per person per night at peak season and are represented by the following values for this country:
£

  £50 to £100

  £100 to £200

£££

  £200 to £300

For a specific personal quote based on any tailor made itinerary you have in mind, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help you.

I bumped into Fifi whilst in the tourist office on Rodrigues when I was looking for suitable accommodation for our clients.  She invited me up to their guesthouse and we really felt like it was a home from home!  Friendly dogs and kids milling around and a jug of homemade leomonade on the table - great views across the hills to the coast.  If you want a 'homestay' type of place then this is perfect.
