About Norman Carr Cottage

  • Close Panel

Norman Carr Cottage is located on the southern shores of Lake Malawi, on Namakoma Bay. It has an intimate and homely feel complemented by the friendly staff. Guests can enjoy boat trips, visits to local villages, watersports or simply relax by the lake shore.

There are 8 rooms - executive suites and courtyard rooms - and a 2-bedroom family cottage. The rooms are spacious and simply furnished, with open air outdoor showers. The executive rooms all face the beach and have a separate ante room adjoining the bedroom. The family cottage is at the back of the property, amongst the mango trees. The 2 bedrooms share an open air shower and separate toilet.

While here guests can enjoy morning and afternoon boat trips on MV Alfie, to go snorkelling, swimming or visit nearby islands. Watersports such as waterskiing and windsurfing can be arranged, while kayaking and golf are also available. This is a good area for bird watching. Alternatively, guests can relax in a hanging chair on the beach or take a stroll along the lake shore. In the evening the cottage arranges a sundowner cruise, the ideal way to relax before dinner at the small beachside restaurant.

The lodge is owned by Taffy and Jenny and the staff are drawn from local villages. The atmosphere here is completely relaxed and this is an ideal place to unwind after a busy safari.

Pricing guidelines for Malawi

  • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £600 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). Malawi combines well with Zambia.

For each accommodation on this website you will find an indication of the price. The bands are based on the price per person per night at peak season and are represented by the following values for this country:

  £50 to £100

  £100 to £200
