About Safari Beach Lodge

  • Close Panel

Safari Beach Lodge is set in 10 hectares of gardens and bush in the Senga Bay Forest Reserve on Lake Malawi. The property is just over an hours drive from Lilongwe and ideal for those wanting a relaxing location not far from the capital.

Senga Bay is a busy small town centred around the fishing communities on the lake and has a few shops and banks and a great craft market nearby.  The lake at Salima can be accessed through Senga Bay but the Safari Beach Lodge offers a much quieter and more private location to stay on the lake shore.

There are four standard en-suite rooms within the main house which have air conditioning. There are seven lake view rooms, at the moment three of these are tented and four are luxury gazebos made out of rustic local materials on stilts.  Two of the gazebos rooms sleep 5 so are suitable for familes.  The tented rooms will gradully be replaced by gazebos.

The main building has a large airy restaurant and bar area with an excellent chef providing food from a varied menu and using plenty of local produce. There is also a deck platform on the beach area overlooking the lake.  A swimming pool in the well kept gardens provides a great place to relax and cool off.

As the lodge is set in a small forest reserve, the birdwatching in the area is excellent and some wildlife that can be found here include baboons, genets, hyrax and monitor lizards.  Relaxing is the perfect thing to do here but if you want to be more active the lodge can arrange boat trips to local islands, snorkelling, canoe trips and guided forest walks.

Pricing guidelines for Malawi

  • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £600 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). Malawi combines well with Zambia.

For a specific personal quote based on any tailor made itinerary you have in mind, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help you.
