Mvuu Lodge

The elegant Mvuu Wilderness Lodge is situated along the banks of the Shire River in Liwonde National Park, Malawi's premier wildlife reserve.  Mvuu Lodge offers exclusive accommodation in five spacious, luxurious tents, each with ensuite bathroom and private veranda set over the lagoon, for outstanding wildlife viewing.  Facilities include a dining room, bar and lounge area, and a pool.  Mvuu Lodge can accommodate 10 guests. Larger groups can also be accommodated in the nearby Mvuu Camp.

A wide range of animals can be seen in the area, including elephant, hippo, impala, waterbuck and sable antelope, and leopard, vervet monkeys, serval and large crocodiles are also common. Black rhino have recently been reintroduced from South Africa. There is also a rich birdlife along the Shire River, including the African Fish Eagle and Pel’s Fishing Owl.

The game viewing here is by vehicle, boat and on foot and the staff are really accommodating - they will set your daily safari schedule to suit your needs and can combine any or all of the activities, together with sundowners and bush meals to make for a memorable stay.

Viewpoints

Mvuu Lodge is a beautiful place and ideal to simply relax and watch the world go by from the deck of your spacious tented room - the world in most cases consisting of elephants, bushbuck and monster sized crocodiles who often frequent the lagoon on which Mvuu sit! You will be surrounded by the many colourful birds and inquisative monkeys and the haunting cry of the fish eagle is never far away. This is ideal either as a relaxing stop after a long road trip or an addition to the more active Zambia safaris and the lovely friendly staff will always make a memorable stay. The boat trips at Mvuu are a definite highlight and excellent all year round.
