About Maliba Lodge

  • Close Panel

Maliba Mountain Lodge and Maliba River Lodge are situated in a beautiful location in Lesotho. Mountain Lodge provides luxurious en-suite catered accommodation and the River Lodge is for self catering.

The lodges are in the kingdom of Lesotho inside the Tsehlanyane National Park. Rugged terrain covering over 5600 hectares of wilderness is protected here including an ancient indigenous old growth woodland, plenty of flora and fauna and cultural links with Basotho people.

Mountain Lodge is set in pristine sub-alpine wilderness deep in a valley in the north of Lesotho in the Maluti / Drakensberg Mountain ranges. Mountain Lodge is a high standard luxury lodge. There are six luxury rooms in the style of traditional huts. All are decorated with warmth and comfort in mind. As it can be very cool some months there are various forms of heating and an open fireplace in each chalet. There is a deep bath which fits two people and has fantastic views! King size beds, mood lighting and private viewing decks all contribute to the feeling of personal space, tranquility and warm hospitality here.

The main area has a spacious dining area and domed lounge with fireplaces and fire pits. All meals are to a high standard using fresh ingrediants. There is a fully stocked bar and wine cellar and meals can be taken in the dining room or privately at your chalet.

River Lodge is a self catering option 1km from the main Mountain Lodge and each of the four thatched rooms has a self contained modern kitchen plus a lounge and dining area with a wooden deck and river views. There are four bedrooms in each and the master is en-suite. The other three bedrooms in each chalet are upstairs. There is under floor heating and electric blankets for the cooler months. They are fully serviced and towels and linen are provided.
Visitors can enjoy hikes around the park and enjoy several natural rock pools for swimming (if it's note too cold!). Horse riding and village visits can be arranged nearby.

Pricing guidelines for Lesotho

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

Trips to Lesotho are usually booked as part of a holiday to South Africa with most clients opting to self drive. Accommodation in Lesotho is fairly basic and can cost anything from £30 - £100 per person per night. International flights to South Africa will add from about £600 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). Lesotho and South Africa also combine well with Botswana, Mauritius and Mozambique.

For a specific personal quote based on any tailor made itinerary you have in mind, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help you.
