About Funzi Keys

  • Close Panel

Tucked away on an unspoilt island in the Indian Ocean, yet only 15 minutes flying time from Mombasa, the Funzi Keys´ unique appeal is its luxurious seclusion and beautiful natural scenery. Surrounded by water and superbly located on a west-facing beach with glorious views of the African sunset, this remote and exclusive hideaway is the perfect place to escape from the outside world in style.

Funzi Keys has a large swimming pool with an extended deck area looking over the water which is used for outdoor dining. There is also a huge main lounge and dining area. Lunches and dinners have daily changing menus with an international theme from highly skilled chefs and meals can be arranged at a supplement either on cushions on the beach, on a sandbank or at your room. There are no set meal times and no dress code - being relaxed and comfortable is the theme here!

The accommodation consists of nine spacious beach front cottages set along the high-water line and constructed of stone and thatch with large netted windows open to the balmy sea breezes. Each of the individually designed rooms has a hand carved king-sized four-poster bed and is furnished with local wooden artifacts and colourful fabrics plus a jacuzzi with spectacular sea view! All cottages are provided with fans, safes and beach accessories and an oversized bathroom. In front of each cottage is a private sitting area where guests can enjoy a drink and watch the sun go down in total privacy.

There are also eight sea view cottages set back between the beach front rooms. These also have four poster beds and all other facilities the same as the beach fronts but not jacuzzi baths.

The large lounge area is full of huge Swahili sofas and squashy cushions and from the dining room upstairs you have an amazing view across the water.

There is a massage room and a variety of activities on offer, but most people just want to stay here and enjoy the exclusive retreat for what it is - -a little corner of getaway from the world .... paradise!

Pricing guidelines for Kenya

  • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £400 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). Kenya combines well with Tanzania or Uganda.

For each accommodation on this website you will find an indication of the price. The bands are based on the price per person per night at peak season and are represented by the following values for this country:

  £50 to £150

I loved this place - such a great laid back feel to it and lovely food - eating on the beach by campfire sitting on cushions was fantastic.
