About Saruni Wild

  • Close Panel

Saruni Wild is Saruni's private deluxe tented camp, located in a wild, scenic valley 10kms away from the main lodge in an area both rich in wildlife and privacy.

Each of the 3 elegantly styled tents has an ensuite bathroom with flush toilets, hot and cold water and large safari showers. They also feature spacious verandas with uninterrupted views over the Yaile Mountains of the Northern Masai Mara.

Saruni Wild's secret valley has a large resident population of elephant, giraffe, buffalo and impala. It is also a fantastic base to spot leopard and wild dog. This is true Africa and the guides have been trained to the highest standard to provide an adventurous, informative and comfortable experience. Guests can track wild animals and learn bush skills. Walks are individually tailored and are set in the breath taking valley, forests, springs and mountains.

Saruni Wild is an ideal base for 2 of Saruni's specialised events - the drawing safaris and the Warrior for a Week programme.

Fully open Land Rovers specially designed for maximum visibility are used during game drives, with guests enjoying the services of both a professioonal guide and a tracker. Foot safaris explore both the Masai Mara plains and the mountains and hills that surround Saruni incorporating local Maasai knowledge. This ecploration not only takes in the famous psots but also visits secret corners. There is also an opportunity to meet the Maasai people and learn about their way of life, why they protect the environment and how they differ from other African tribes.

Saruni is part of the Mara North Conservancy and has a unique location next to the only indigenous forest left in the Mara, with prolific populations of elephant, buffalo, leopard and several speciies of buck. The only population of Sykes and Colobus monkeys in the Mara also live nearby.

Comments about Saruni Wild
'By night, the noises of the Mara grow louder - elephants trumpeted and lions gurgled. I am always amazed when superb food is created in the middle of nowhere and Saruni was no excpetion. Thanks to Riccardo, meals had a distinct Italian slant. I enjoyed better pasta than I'd had in Italy.' Daily Express, UK
'We have been to Saruni Wild for the 3rd time since 2008 and we still love this place. It is like coming home. The camp has fantastic views and the manager and all the staff are brilliant. They can't do enough for you. Food is super. Tents are spacious with their own terrace and spaced out for privacy. Even though the lodge is not in the Mara Reserve, there is plenty of wildlife in the Mara North Conservancy and the drive down the hill passing local villages is hard to beat. We are already planning to go back in the very near future.' Guest comment

Fair Trade / Responsible Travel:
Saruni has established a women's group, whose members come from the local community. The ladies are encouraged to sell their artefacts directly in the Saruni shop and thje lodge makes sure that they group remains in charge of the income generated from this activity. Saruni also supports the Kibera Paper project, selling cards in the shop to support HIV-affected single mothers who live in Kibera slum (Nairobi). More than 80% of Saruni Wild's employees are from local communities. Saruni also sponsors young Maasai to train as guides at the Koiyaki Guideing School. Pricing guidelines for Kenya

  • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £400 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). Kenya combines well with Tanzania or Uganda.

For each accommodation on this website you will find an indication of the price. The bands are based on the price per person per night at peak season and are represented by the following values for this country:
