About Mara Serena Safari Lodge

  • Close Panel

Mara Serena Safari Lodge occupies a stunning location perched high on the saddle of a bush-cloaked hill offering visitors spectacular views out across the Mara River and the savannah plains beyond. Come migration season, guests at the Mara Serena Safari Lodge have the best seat in the house as they watch the dramas unfold below them.

The Mara Serenaa has been carefully designed to blend in with its surroundings whilst also reflecting a Maasai influence. All the guest accommodation is styled to resemble the traditional "Manyatta" -homestead. The interiors are individually styled in exuberant African colours reminiscent of Masai art whilst also providing a relaxing haven after a hard day in the bush. Each room features a spacious bathroom along with a private balcony with views of the vast African landscape.

The lodge's grounds are beautifully maintained, the centrepiece being the swimming pool perched on the edge of the hill. The traditional safari-styled dining room features a relaxed candlelit atmosphere and menu choices that include a broad selection of imaginative and traditional safari favourites. Alternative venues for meals include breakfast by the Hippo Pool, a range of bush dinners and sundowners at one of the Mara''s many stunning vantage points.

‘Safari' means journey in Kiswahili but has evolved to mean a spectacular bush adventure that takes in glorious sightings of game, whilst delivering awe-inspiring scenery and show-stopping views. To achieve this aim Mara Serena Safari Lodge operates a wide range of wildlife related activities including twice daily game drives, nature walks, bird watching and balloon safaris.

As you would expect with a large sized lodge the Mara Serena offers a full range of services and facilities including: beauty therapy and massage services; forex facilities; a wide range of board games; full housekeeping services (laundry, valet, babysitting on request, children''s menus/dining shoeshine etc); full medical back-up and emergency evacuation facilities.

Fair Trade / Responsible Travel:
The Mara Serena Safari Lodge was built to harmonise with the local landscape and utilises eco-friendly materials, local handicrafts and products. Wherever possible they also aim to enhance the environment via landscaping and indigenous plant material reinforcement. Mara Serena works closely with the local community building projects for local schools and conservation centres. The Lodge also aims to boost local employment by hiring and training local personnel and offering educational scholarships to local children.

Pricing guidelines for Kenya

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £400 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). Kenya combines well with Tanzania or Uganda.

For each accommodation on this website you will find an indication of the price. The bands are based on the price per person per night at peak season and are represented by the following values for this country:
