About Walking Wild

  • Close Panel

On a Walking Wild safari, your main bag is packed onto camels, and you carry just a day pack. Your walking safari guide will have with him a radio and mobile phone backup, a first aid kit, and a team of Maasai warriors!

Your camp consists of a 2-man dome tent with bedroll and towel (plus torch, water, fly spray and flip flops!). There is a bucket shower available, and a long or short drop loo tent (depending on where you are travelling and the exact spot of the camp).

Your Maasai crew will prepare you an excellent 3-course meal under the stars by a fire. Beers, wine and other drinks are all available.

Fair Trade / Responsible Travel
The local Laikipiak Maasai community of Il Ngwesi is a one third owner in this walking safari company, which directly employs about 10 staff, but which benefits a great deal more people due to the size of the families linked to each employee, and also due to the fact that profits go to the community fund. This fund supports the education of poor families, buys cattle dip, builds schools and roads… whatever the community decides to spend the money on.

Pricing guidelines for Kenya

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £400 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). Kenya combines well with Tanzania or Uganda.

For each accommodation on this website you will find an indication of the price. The bands are based on the price per person per night at peak season and are represented by the following values for this country:
