About Mutamaiyu House

  • Close Panel

A gorgeous manor house (the private home of Nicky and Gaby Hahn) on the 49,000 acre Mugie Wildlife Conservancy in Laikipia in Northern Kenya. There are six spacious luxury cottages with spectacular views of this amazing remote region. Each room has a fire place and large bathrooms.

A unique feature of staying at Mutamaiyu is that guests can participate in daily ranch life and assist in conservation projects including lion tracking. There are a range of activities here including several cultural interactions with the local community - there is enough to occupy a visitor for many days if you wish!

Day and night game drives are included and the conservancy is home to the 'big 5'. Bush and camel walks are available as are bush breakfasts, sundown drinks in the conservancy and ranching activities. There is a Black Rhino conservation project which guests can get involved with. Guests can also visit the Mugie School, have an insight into the lives of Pokot and Samburu tribes people, visit the weekly market at Suguta Marmar and visit the Gala Graves. A cultural boma visit is available at extra cost.

Pricing guidelines for Kenya

  • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £400 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). Kenya combines well with Tanzania or Uganda.

For each accommodation on this website you will find an indication of the price. The bands are based on the price per person per night at peak season and are represented by the following values for this country:

  £50 to £150
