Laikipia & Lamu

A wonderful Kenya safari and beach holiday. Laikipia offers some of Kenya's most exciting wildlife viewing, stunning landscapes and fascinating cultural insights. Lamu is a fantastic place to stay for a relaxing break on the beach at the end of your safari. The combination of these two regions makes for a luxury Kenya safari and beach holiday which is varied, and both exciting and relaxing.

Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Arrive in Nairobi. Fly to Lewa Downs and transfer to Lewa Safari Camp. Afternoon gameviewing. (Lunch, dinner)
  2. Days 2-3:  Wildlife activities based at Lewa Safari Camp. There are many activities offered here including day and night game drives, guided nature walks and horse rides. The camp can also arrange for guests to visit local conservation and community projects, so you may visit orphaned animals or accompany tracking dogs on training exercises. (Full board).
  3. Day 4: Fly north to Sarara Camp. Game viewing and cultural activities are available here. (Full board)
  4. Days 5-6:  At Sarara Camp. Walking safaris are particularly popular here and gane drives are also offered. There is a wide variety of game and bird species in this area for you to enjoy. You can also visit thr local Samburu village or go hiking in the mountains. (Full board)
  5. Days 7-10: Fly to Nairobi and on to Lamu. Your next 4 nights are spent at Kipungani Lodge on Lamu Island. You will stay in your own chalet, complete with beach-facing deck. Relax and enjoy the ocean views. The lodge has a main lounge and terrace where you can chat with fellow guests. Enjoy fresh seafood dishes in the dining room with views across the lodge's gardens. Kipungani Lodge is set on a beach of some 600 metres. Swimming and snorkelling and recommended. Other watersports include diving (seasonal), windsurfing and kayaking. It is also possible to visit Kipungani Village. (Full board)
  6. Day 11:  Fly back to Nairobi, and home (or connect to onward arrangements). (Breakfast)

An easy trip with not much travel time encompassing a unique and wild part of the rift valley with relaxing beach on Lamu.

Best times to go

You are best to avoid the rainy months, particularly mid- April to end of May and also November. Otherwise any time is fine.
