About Porini Lion Camp

  • Close Panel

Lion Camp is located in the exclusive 20,000 acre Olare Orok Conservancy. This expansive conservancy, which borders the Masai Mara Game Reserve is home to an abundance of animals including the Big Cats for which the Mara is famous. The Camp is situated along the banks of the Ntiakatiak River, a seasonal river with some permanent hippo pools near the camp. With 10 luxury guest tents the camp is very exclusive and gives guests a real in the bush experience.

The tents are very spacious and have private verandahs along the length of the tent, providing a secluded and private ‘space' for guests to relax and enjoy the beauty of this African wilderness. Each tent has en-suite bathrooms with flush toilets and hot showers.

Food is excellent with fresh baked bread and high quality meals prepared by the camp Chef.

Day and night game drives are available, using open-sided 4x4 vehicles. Maasai warriors escort guests on walks in the conservancy, giving information about how the indigenous animals and plants used by the community.

Eco-tourism Local Maasai community members own the Olare Orok Conservancy and are receiving a direct benefit from wildlife, seeing wildlife as a valuable resource which belongs to them. They earn a direct income from each guest in the conservancy and also much needed employment for their members.

Other than the head chef, camp manager and head guide all the other camp staff are from the surrounding communities. Lion Camp is run and maintained with the conservation of the environment at the forefront. The numbers of tourist visitors in the conservancy are being limited to retain the wild and unspoilt nature of the area and to minimise the impact on the environment. During their stay our guests have various opportunities to learn about the local Maasai people and how the Olare Orok Conservancy and Lion Camps work together.

Pricing guidelines for Kenya

  • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £400 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). Kenya combines well with Tanzania or Uganda.

For each accommodation on this website you will find an indication of the price. The bands are based on the price per person per night at peak season and are represented by the following values for this country:
