    About Olonana

    • Close Panel

Olonana is a small luxury camp on the banks of the Mara River in the heart of the Masai Mara Game Reserve. There are twelve large en-suite 'pavillion' rooms all with two queen size double beds and two river side larger 'honeymoon' rooms. There is a main lounge and dining area (with pizza oven!)with a deck where guests can watch hippos in the water below. River views of the wildlife and at times of the year, the famous wildebeest migration crosses here.  The food is an excellent standard and the chefs will prepare delights for you either served up on the Siria escarpment above camp or you can take picnics and bush breakfasts.

Game drives here are enjoyed in open 4x4 vehicles giving great visibility and photographic opportunities.  There is a swimming pool and a spa.  Meals times and activities are flexible depending on guests wishes, but game drives usually go out at set times as the vehicles are shared between several guests in camp and the times and locations of the drives change with the season to best maximise the wildlife sightings.

Guests are invited to share the lives of the Masai people in the nearby village which offers a unique perspective of their culture.  You can join them in such skills as archery, bow and arrow making and there is a special childrens experience where they can learn about the lives of these fascinating people.

Olonana is involved with the eco-tourism of the area with solar power, a tree planting project, a wetlands project and the camp assists the local community in various projects.  Guests  at Olonana can participate in a reforestation of the Mara project by making a donation to plant a tree, to offset the natural resources used during their stay. The camp received a Silver award from the Eco-tourism Society of Kenya and has projects to assist the local community. Olonana has been named one of the top 15 safari camps in the world by Conde Nast Traveller.

    Pricing guidelines for Kenya

    • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £400 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). Kenya combines well with Tanzania or Uganda.

For a specific personal quote based on any tailor made itinerary you have in mind, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help you.
