A ‘pet’ greater kudu often welcomes you to Ol Malo –which is right and proper given that this is the meaning of the place!
Ol Malo is a luxurious lodge is set on the edge of an escarpment in Laikipia. The land is home to about 50 different game species including elephants, buffalo, giraffe, Grevy and Burchell Zebra, gerenuk, hartebeast, Grants and Thompsons Gazelle, impala, lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena (spotted and striped) and Wild Dog. There are about 280 bird species in the Ol Malo region.
The owners are your hosts and they offer a very comfortable place to relax in between the game drives, walks and horse riding which they offer as well as other activities such as visiting a local Samburu manyatta, mountain biking, and camping out. There is a good swimming pool too.
The four cottages are huge, well-furnished, and very comfortable, with great views down into the valley below. There are also two en-suite tents.
Fair Trade / Responsible Tourism
Ol Malo has set up "The Ol Malo Trust", a trust fund providing help for the Samburu with their medical needs, food and support through severe drought and offering guidance towards important environmental developments. They also help sell crafts and art made by the local people.
