Mara Explorer is a luxurious permanent tented camp based on the game rich banks of the Talek River in the heart of the Masai Mara National Reserve. Being so close to both the Mara and Talek rivers, the Mara Explorer provides guests with an ideal opportunity to view the annual migration crossings from the comfort of their verandah armchair. Outside of the migrations season the area offers some of the worlds most rewarding big cat sightings.
Game drives from Mara Explorer discover quiet, undeveloped areas of the Mara ensuring that guests are provided with a truly memorable wildlife experience. The local landscape is predominantly rolling grassland hills, interspersed with riverine forests. Grazing animals such as elephants, buffalo, impala, topi and various gazelle are common in this area while it is not unheard of for leopard, cheetah, lion and rhino all to be spotted on a morning game drive.
This small and exclusive camp consists of just 10 tents each of which has uninterrupted views of the Talek riverbank. The emphasis is to provide a personal service that meets the individual needs every guest. The spacious and well-appointed tents are furnished to a very high standard including an open yet secluded Victorian style bathroom suite. The luxurious tents lead out onto a private decking which provides glorious views of the river. Additionally meals can be taken here in private or alfresco near the central campfire or the open-air riverfront dining area. Personal tent attendants ensure guests receive the highest standard of personal service. The camp also benefits from an intimate lounge, camp library and access to a swimming pool so you can cool off after a hard days game viewing.
