About Loisaba Lodge

  • Close Panel

Loisaba Wilderness is set on the edge of the Laikipia plateau in northern Kenya. It is a 61,000 acre private ranch and wildlife conservancy on which cattle and wildlife co-exist. Due to the varied nature of the environment (hills, plains, groves of acacia, fig and palm, and rivers), there is a great variety of wildlife, including elephants, giraffe, antelope, buffalo, Grevy's zebra, striped hyena, leopard, cheetah, lion, kudu, dik-dik and even wild dogs. It is also possible to see rhinos on a nearby ranch as a day trip.

Loisaba Lodge used to be a hunting lodge in the 60's but now offers stylish, comfortable accommodation in 7 en-suite rooms. The lodge is located on the edge of the escarpment and all rooms have large French windows opening out onto a private deck with fantastic views of the water hole a few hundred feet below and of Mount Kenya in the distance.

Apart from the lodge there are two separate accommodations which are perfect for families, small groups of friends or exclusive honeymoon retreats.  Both properties are self-contained and have their own staff including a guide and vehicle. Guests staying at these properties also have access to main lodge facilities.

Loisaba Cottage is about 9km from the main lodge and set back from the escarpment in beautiful gardens with a private swimming pool. It features 3 double en-suite rooms as well as 1 mezzanine room with a detached bathroom.

Loisaba House is an exclusive property which has a cliff top infinity pool, built on the edge of the escarpment made entirely from local stone and thatch. There are 2 ensuite bedrooms with shower and bath, as well as a sitting room, dining room and bar.

Further away, but still with use of the main lodge facilities and the wilderness area activities are the unique star beds.

Loisaba is popular for its diverse range of activities - lion tracking, camel safaris, mountain biking, river rafting (not white water), spectacular helicopter safaris, night game drives, fishing - to mention a few! When not busy with these activities guests can relax around the large swimming pool, enjoy a game of tennis, croquet or boules or just take it easy.

The Spa
Loisaba Lodge has a 'Mind, Body & Soul' concept, a stay here should revive, rejuvenate your body and revitalise your soul. The spa is a crucial part of Loisaba, providing the means for guests to relax and absorb the awakening of the senses. The spa has a trained masseuse and blends qualified professional knowledge with local traditions to produce a unique range of treatments. These include full body massage and sensuous body wraps, all in a magnificent setting with views over the Laikipia Plateau. Beauty treatments such as facials, manicures and pedicures are also available. There is an open air jacuzzi where guests can relax after treatments enjoying fine views of the Karissia Hills.

Pricing guidelines for Kenya

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £400 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). Kenya combines well with Tanzania or Uganda.

For each accommodation on this website you will find an indication of the price. The bands are based on the price per person per night at peak season and are represented by the following values for this country:
