About Kinondo Kwetu

  • Close Panel

Kinondo Kwetu enjoys a perfect beach front location and has spacious rooms and grounds retaining a calm and restful atmosphere. Home to the Anderssons, a Swedish family related to famous Baron Blixen, Kinondo Kwetu sits on a private beach south of Diani, distanced by rocky cliffs and clean beaches from it's neighbours. It is classified as a 'Kaya' area (protected by the National Museum) as it is surrounded by holy forests and sacred land.

There are several areas of accommodation, the Mama Taa Villa (7 suites), 4 cottages, a beachhouse and Mama Tina Villa. Children are welcome and cots and extra beds are available on request. Kinondo Kewtu can cater to a maximum of 40 guests.

The rooms and cottages offer ensuite accommodation and all have fan and mosquito nets, some are also equipped with air conditioning. The facilities include two swimming pools, one in the shape of a 3 leaf clover, a tennis court and water tower from which guests can enjoy spectacular sunset views.

Guests seeking seclusion will like the tranquil atmosphere of the library and the living rooms. The restaurant serves delicious breakfasts, 3-course lunches and dinners using the freshest local ingredients.

Kinondo Kwetu offers a huge range of watersports including diving - they have their own PADI centre, Diving from Kinondo is superb and all levels are catered for. The reef is so close that great dives can be enjoyed just 5 minutes from the shore! The best time for diving is September - March. Snorkelling and kite surfing are also popular. Guests can enjoy a dhow cruise or go sailing on one of the resort's outriggers. There is a golf course nearby. Kinondu Kwetu has its own riding stables and guests can go riding along the beach, in the forest and paddocks. Excursions can be arranged to the local village and also to Mombasa as well as to nearby islands. Shimba Hills is just a short drive away..

The Spa
Health and well being is at the forefront at Kinondo. The spa offers treatments and therapies to revive, re-energise and rejuvenate, set against the soothing sound of the Indian Ocean. Enjoy relaxing massages and pamper yourself with beauty treatments including facials, manicures and pedicures. There is a 'secret' spot on the cliffs overlooking the sea, ideal for quiet meditation and yoga. Yoga and aerobics classes can be arranged. The Finish sauna is fired up each day towards sunset - a perfect way to relax after a busy day.

Pricing guidelines for Kenya

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £400 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). Kenya combines well with Tanzania or Uganda.

For each accommodation on this website you will find an indication of the price. The bands are based on the price per person per night at peak season and are represented by the following values for this country:
