About Southern Sun Mayfair, Nairobi

  • Close Panel

Southern Sun Mayfair is a large, comfortable hotel with a range of rooms and a very friendly service. It is in the Parklands area of Nairobi, this suburb is usually peaceful and most of the rooms look inwards over the gardens and pool area. It was originally the Mayfair Court Hotel and had a colonial heyday in the 1940s. Recently it was known as the Holiday Inn. The hotel still has a pleasant colonial historical feel to it.

There are a number of restaurants including a Spur in the foyer area (which offers steaks, burgers, pizzas, salads and room snacks) and The Oasis on the pool side which also has a terrace where breakfast is taken and bar snacks are available here through the day. Room service is also available 18 hours a day.

There is a business centre, internet connection, salon and all other facilities you would expect from a large modern hotel. There is a fitness centre with a full gym and aerobics classes, a steam bath and sauna. There is a small gift shop and newspaper shop. Dry cleaning and laundry can be arranged.

The rooms have comfortable facilities including tea and coffee making areas, tvs and plenty of storage space.

Westlands shopping centre and markets are close by.

Pricing guidelines for Kenya

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £400 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). Kenya combines well with Tanzania or Uganda.

For each accommodation on this website you will find an indication of the price. The bands are based on the price per person per night at peak season and are represented by the following values for this country:

  £50 to £150

  £150 to £300

This is one of the best value hotels for an overnight stay in Nairobi. It’s nothing fancy but offers clean rooms, a couple of restaurant choices and a lovely swimming pool and abr area. It is fairly central in the city too.
