    About Governors Private Camp

    • Close Panel
Governors’ Private Camp is exactly what the name suggests - a camp set up for the exclusive use of an individual group or party. Each of Governors Private Camp 8 comfortable tents is beautifully sited with a private veranda, en suite bathrooms and wide windows for views on a picturesque bend of the Mara River. The camp, along with the open bar and dining tent, is shaded in the lush forest that lines the banks of the Mara River. It is a spot where animals come to drink, hippo laze in the shallows and elephants bring their calves for a playful dip. The plains either side of the river are the classical image of savannah Africa, dotted with acacia trees and fringed to the West by the imposing Siria escarpment.

Both the delicious food and the drinks are included in the package at Governors Private Camp, whilst you can even tailor your own menus with the camp’s executive chef. The package additionally covers three daily game drives in some of the best game viewing areas in Kenya.  Also included are daily game walks in a private concession area adjacent to the Masai Mara National Reserve. Qualified guides lead the walks which take place either in the morning with a champagne bush breakfast or in the afternoon with sundowners and snacks. Not only are grazing animals particularly common in this area but big cat sightings are also particularly prevalent. Indeed, –the BBC'’s 'Big Cat Diary' is filmed in this area. The bushlands around Rhino Ridge are also good areas for spotting one of the Masai Mara’s twenty or so black rhinos.

Being a private camp ensures guests receive a personal, tailor made safari experience. However as part of the Governors’ Camps guests can also benefit from a far wider range of facilities including balloon safaris on your doorstep, along with having access to a range of Governors properties across Kenya - relaxing lakeside breaks on the shores of Lake Victoria or Lake Naivasha.

    Fair Trade / Responsible Tourism:
It is possible to visit the nearby Mararianta School, which has been completely rebuilt and developed with funds generated by Governors’ Camp and the BBC. This establishment provides education for students who walk up to 10km through the bush each day.

    Pricing guidelines for Kenya

    • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £400 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). Kenya combines well with Tanzania or Uganda.

For a specific personal quote based on any tailor made itinerary you have in mind, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help you.
