A high ridge of land, over 800 metre above sea level, Mount Nebo commands stunning views over the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and beyond. On a clear day, you can even see the spires of Jerusalem glistening in the distance.
Mount Nebo is the spot where Moses is said to have been given a view of the Promised Later and according to Christian and Jewish tradition was later buried. The modern church that sits atop the mountain protects the ruins of a much older 4th century basilica, and inside you can see the remains of mosaics dating from the 6th century.
