  1. Agra Fort

    Also known as the Red Fort, the magnificent Agra Fort dominates the centre of Agra. The walls and gate of the fort was built by the Mughal Empreror Akbar the Great, but most of the fine marble imperial quarters were built by Shah Jahan, builder of the Taj Mahal.

  2. Chittorgarh

    A couple of hours drive from Udaipur, Chittorgarh is one of Rajasthans oldest cities and its largest fortress, containing many fine temples and palaces.

  3. Fatehpur Sikri

    Fatehpur Sikri was the capital of India's Mughal Empire under Akbar's reign, from 1571 until 1585, when it was abandoned. It is a perfectly preserved example of Indo-Islamic Mughal architecture.

  4. Humayans tomb

    Humayan was the second Mughal Emperor, and his tomb in Delhi is one of the best examples of early Mughal architecture. it is well worth a visit, especially if you are continuing to the Taj Mahal so you can see the refinement of the Mughal style.

  5. Jama Masjid

    Delhi's Jama Masjid or Friday Mosque is the largest mosque in India and a fine example of Mughal architecture. It is located in the heart of the old town and with the Red Fort dominates Old Delhi.

  6. Khajuraho

    One of the most popular tourist destinations in India, Khajuraho has the largest group of medieval Hindu temples, famous for their erotic sculpture. By virtue of being fairly isolated the temples have been spared much of the destruction caused by pillaging armies over the centuries, and the site is remarkably well preserved.

  7. Qutub Minar

    Qutub Minar is the tallest brick minaret in the world, and an important example of Indo-Islamic Architecture. The tower is in the Qutb complex in South Delhi, India. The Qutb Minar and its monuments are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

  8. Ranakpur

    Located about halfway between Udaipur and Jodhpur, in a lush valley on the flanks of the Aravali Hills, Ranakpur is famous for its impressive temple complex.

  9. Sri Meenakshi Temple

    The life of Madurai revolves around the Sri Meenakshi Sundareswarar temple. This magnificently carved temple is the main attraction of Madurai and its huge Gopurams tower over the city. Meenakshi temple has a thousand pillared ‘Mandapam’, each of the pillars being exquisitely carved. Among these are the musical pillars, which produce music when tapped, and which were carved out of a single granite rock.

  10. Taj Mahal

    The Taj Mahal is India's most famous monument, and one of the most famous buildings in the world. It is the crowning glory of Mughal architecture in India, and a monument for the love between the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan and his wife Mumtaz Mahal.
