About Rohetgarh

  • Close Panel

In the small town of Rohet, close to Jodhpur, Rohetgarh has been the home to the Singh family since the 17th century. In the 1990s, it became one of the leading heritage hotels in Rajasthan. Guests can relax in the spacious garden and several courtayrds, one of which houses the swimming pool, where meals are often served poolside. Several famous authors including Bruce Chatwin and William Dalrymple have spent extended stays here to enjoy the peaceful setting as they write.

There are 29 rooms and 6 suites, the latter being very spacious. All are air conditioned, have ceiling fans, TV, internet access and ensuite bathrooms. The suites also have tea and coffee making facilities. The rooms vary in shape, size and decor and are scattered throughout the rambling building.

Rohetgarh is famous for its traditional food, and you can learn about Rajasthani cooking by attending a cooking class here. The restaurant also serves continental dishes as well as traditonal Indian food. Snacks are served by the pool and on the rooftop terrace, which is also a popular place to enjoy a sundowner. Rohetgarh is also famous for its stables, and horse riding trips can be arranged for visitors. Rohet is a great location to base yourself to explore the surrounding local communities, and during a village visit you can learn about the Bishnoi villages and wildlife of this desert region.

Pricing guidelines for India

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £450 to £700 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). India combines well with Nepal.

For a specific personal quote based on any tailor made itinerary you have in mind, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help you.

  • Example tripPrice per person
  • 1 week Golden Triangle holidayBetween £800 and £2000
  • 2 weeks in northern IndiaFrom about £1500+
  • 2 weeks in southern IndiaBetween £2000 and £3000
  • 11 day wildlife safari (including tigers)From about £1250+

They have totally re-vamped the main sitting/bar area – new sofas, really tastefully and elegantly done so it now feels fresh and inviting by the bar.

The garden has come alive after fabulous rains this year.  They’ve invested hugely in the comfort side of things with the garden furniture all re-done and they will be putting an a la carte dining room above the main dining room this year. This will do away with the tent which is too hot in summer too cold in winter.  Sad but essential.  All spruced up and looking lovely and the wonderful staff are as smiley as ever and slowly growing in confidence.
