About Samode Haveli

  • Close Panel

The Samode Haveli was built over 150 years ago by Rawal Sheo Singhji, a Prime Minister in the Jaipur court, as the Samode royal family's suburban manor house, and the elephant ramp at the entrance was specially constructed in the 1940's for the marriage ceremony of the late Rawal Sahib's aunt. Today the Samode Haveli is a small intimate hotel offering excellent personalised service. It has been meticulously restored and integrated into a unique property. The blend of the contemporary and the historic gives Samode Haveli a warm and friendly atmosphere. With its understated luxury, antique furniture, furnishings and original work-of-art, the hotel is a celebration of traditional values and gracious living.

Each of the 39 rooms and suites are individually designed and furnished with genuine antiques and fixtures, and old family portraits adorn the walls. All rooms have ensuite bathrooms, air conditioning, television with cable connection, telephones with international dialing facilities. The spacious Maharaja and Maharani suites are absolutely stunning, with every inch of the ceiling and walls ornately painted and ornamented with mirror mosaics.

Samode Haveli features a spectacular hand painted (from floor to ceiling) dining hall which provides a special setting for dinner, a beautiful airy verandah (lounge) where they serve afternoon tea is. Hotel staff can also arrange for private meals and candle-lit dinners in the lush green back garden, and you can watch a puppet show and enjoy traditional Rajasthani dance and music over a drink in the open air lounge every evening.

There is a swimming pool and children's wading pool, Jacuzzi, steam room, massage centre and gift shop. Jaipur is famous for its blue pottery, hand block print, embroidery, jewellery, enamel work and offers a wonderful opportunity to browse through bazaars stocked with an enormous variety of artistic handicrafts -all of which is within walking distance of the Samode Haveli.

Pricing guidelines for India

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £450 to £700 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). India combines well with Nepal.

For a specific personal quote based on any tailor made itinerary you have in mind, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help you.

  • Example tripPrice per person
  • 1 week Golden Triangle holidayBetween £800 and £2000
  • 2 weeks in northern IndiaFrom about £1500+
  • 2 weeks in southern IndiaBetween £2000 and £3000
  • 11 day wildlife safari (including tigers)From about £1250+

Samode Haveli is a gem but since the owner has been away getting Samode Safari Lodge up and running, the haveli has rested on its laurels a little.  That said, it is still a gem and such good value and has no competition for what it is, in Jaipur.

This summer the owner is sprucing it all up, the staff will go through more training, everything will have a coat of paint, new menus, new cushions in all the public areas and a general raise in standards.  He has done this at Samode Palace, the Bagh and created the most extraordinarily luxurious hotel in Bandhavgarh so now it is the turn of Samode Haveli which needs a bit of TLC and it will be getting it this summer.
