Tiger, Tiger

Kanha and Bandhavgarh National Park are the two best places in India to see tigers. So we have designed this Tiger Tiger itinerary for those who are really keen to see a tiger in the wild and we believe this gives you the very best chance. Both parks are remote and are proper, or should I say 'pukka', Indian jungle, which not only provide a great setting for a tiger safari but also have a wide variety of other Indian wildlife.

The scenery at both of these parks is just beautiful and they are different enough to make it worth visiting both in the same trip. Some people will definitely prefer Kanha to Bandhavgarh and others will favour Bandhavgarh over Kanha, but I think they are equally beautiful and both have excellent wildlife viewing opportunities.

We have found some fabulous jungle lodges which can be used for this trip and you can choose what type of accommodation you'd prefer. There are also options on how you get to these parks. The itinerary outlined is just one suggestion but the basis of taking in both Kanha and Bandhavgarh National Parks for a good all-round wildlife trip with a high chance of tiger spotting is the core of the suggestion.

Is it for you?

This is an easy trip that does not require any particular special fitness. You stay in good hotels and jungle lodges and should find there is plenty of time for wildlife viewing. Overnight trains in India add an extra dimension to your trip.

Best time

Bandhavgarh and Kanha close in the monsoon from 1st July until mid-October. The best time for wildlife is in the hotter months between April and June when animals are using regular watering spots. It can be very hot from mid-April and if this is a problem for you then you should stick to the cooler months prior to this, when wildlife viewing is still extremely good. It is cool from mid-October to the end of February and wet from June to mid-October.

Getting there

There are several flights direct from london to Delhi every day. Flight prices start from around £400-£500 per person.

Pricing guidelines for India

  • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £450 to £700 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). India combines well with Nepal.

For a specific personal quote based on any tailor made itinerary you have in mind, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help you.
