Spiritual India

Since time immemorial, India has been the home of numerous religions, and this trip will give you an in-depth understanding of the many spiritual sights of this ancient country. Visit sights of importance to all of India's major religions, including the Hindu, Buddhist, Jain, Sikh, Bah'ai and Islamic traditions.

Itinerary

  • Day 1:
  • Arrive in Delhi. You will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel.
  • Day 2:
  • Visit some of the many sacred monuments that can be found in and around Delhi, including Islamic mosques, Hindu shrines and the Bahai temple.
  • Day 3: 
  • Drive to Haridwar, about a 5 hour journey, and experience the evening Arti prayers by the Ganga Ghat.
  • Day 4:
  • Drive to Rishikesh, the birthplace of Yoga, for a tour of the region including a spiritual lecture.
  • Day 5:
  • Return back to Delhi, arriving in time to catch the overnight train to Jodhpur.
  • Day 6:
  • Explore the Osian Temples near Jodhpur and drive to Manvar for a jeep safari of the desert, camping overnight.
  • Day 7:
  • Drive to the small town of Rohet near Jodhpur to stay in Rohetgarh and explore the local region.
  • Day 8:
  • Continue to Ranakpur to explore the famous Jain temples before driving onto Udaipur.
  • Day 9:
  • Spend the day exploring the temples, palaces and gardens of Udaipur.
  • Day 10:
  • You will have more time to explore Udaipur before taking an afternoon flight back to Delhi.
  • Day 11:
  • Spend the day exploring Delhi.
  • Day 12:
  • Take the fast train to Amritsar, visiting the Golden Temple in the evening.
  • Day 13:
  • Return to the Golden Temple in the morning and spend the day exploring Amritsar.
  • Day 14:
  • Take the train back to Delhi for some last minute shopping.
  • Day 15:
  • You will be taken to the airport in time for your flight home.

Our trips are tailor made for you and prices vary according to the accommodation used and time of year. As a guide price using the accommodation shown this itinerary would cost from £2,740 per person, based on two people sharing a twin/double room.

Is it for you?

This is an easy trip that does not require any particular special fitness. The level of accommodation is varied, with some nights in good quality hotels and others in more basic accommodation in remote spots off the beaten track.

Best times to go

The best time to travel is around October to mid-April. The monsoons season is normally from June to September. The temperature should range from a low of about 22°C to a high of 32°C.
