Located on Observatory Hill, at an altitude of 1,600m a short distance from the hill-town of Munnar, Windermere is a peaceful place to relax and enjoy the cooler climate and more relaxed atmosphere of the Western Ghats. Surrounded by a 60 acre cardamom plantation, Windermere Estate is a family-run business with a very friendly and laid back atmosphere. Accommodation is in rustic cottages, most of which enjoy fabulous views of the steep sided tea estates and the cardamom hill. The hotel can arrange tours of the cardamom plantations which are rich with flora and fauna and can organise longer treks in the hills of the Western Ghats.

Windermere Estate is set amidst a 60 acre Cardamom Plantation in the Western Ghats at an altitude of 1,600m, a short distance from the town of Munnar.

Walking through the plantation escorted by a local guide, trekking through the hills of the Western Ghats, exploring nearby tea plantations and the Eravikulam National Park.

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £450 to £700 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). India combines well with Nepal.
