Shahpura Bagh

Once the summer home of the rulers of Shahpura, the 45 acre estate of Shahpura Bagh is a perfect place to base yourself in an unspoilt part of Rajasthan. Located about halfway between Jaipur and Udaipur, it provides a peaceful spot to escape from the hustle and bustle of India's city and explore the local rural communities and wildlife.

The spacious gardens are surrounded by lakes and are a haven for birdlife. There are two residences, the main house where the Shahpura family reside and where meals, and a restored guest house where most of the rooms are located. Originally built to house important guests, the rooms in the guest house are light and airy, with high ceilings and large windows. The rooms are all elegantly furnished and equipped with modern amenities such as electronic safes and air-conditioning.

The Shapura family who reside and manage Shapura Bagh are very welcoming and hospitable. Although there is the option of private dining, meals are normally served with the family and guests are very much made to feel at home. There is lots to do in the local area –exploring the village of Shahpura and the local communities; visiting nearby temples; boating, birdwatching or fishing in the lake and hiking or cycling –but this is also a great place to relax and enjoy the peaceful setting.
