About Lion Safari Camp

  • Close Panel

Lion Safari Camp is a luxury tented camp in Gir National Park, one of the last strongholds of the Asiatic Lion. This eco friendly camp is set in a peaceful mango orchard of about 900 trees on the banks of the Hiran river. Each tent has its own viewing deck, so guests can enjoy wonderful views from the privacy of their own tent.

There are 21 air conditioned tents, all with en-suite bathroom with shower and hot and cold running water. When not on wildlife safaris, guests can relax in the privacy of their own veranda, perhaps enjoying a cool, refreshing drink. Each tent is furnished with natural materials and features modern touches like a coffee machine and 'phone.

The open air restaurant overlooks the river and serves Indian, Chinese and continental cuisine. Seafood is also available on request. Barbecues are sometimes available in the evenings. Romantic candlelit dinners, picnic lunches and teas can be arranged. There is a recreation room with a pool table, library and satellite TV. The camp also offers a laundry service and internet access. There is a souvenir shop on site.

Gir National Park is the only place in the world where you can see the Asiactic Lion in the wild. It also has a large population of leopards compared to other parks, making it a wonderful location for viewing big cats. There are a large number of marsh crocodiles near the Kamleshwar Dam as well as other wildlife such as chital, nilgai, hyena, jackals and over 300 species of birds. Lion Safari Camp offers morning and late afternoon game drives in the park in customised 4x4 vehicles. Excursions to local attractions can also be arranged while at the camp - to be paid for locally.

Pricing guidelines for India

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £450 to £700 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). India combines well with Nepal.

For a specific personal quote based on any tailor made itinerary you have in mind, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help you.
