Although the Beluga was built many years ago now, you'd be forgiven for thinking this beautiful gleaming white motor yacht is brand new because it is kept in such fantastic condition. Many newer yachts could easily be mistaken as the Beluga's elders. The Beluga and its crew made my eight day cruise around the Galapagos Islands the trip of a lifetime.
The yacht is extremely spacious with lovely cabins that feel very light, airy and modern. Three of the cabins have huge windows for wonderful sea view panoramas. There are many spacious areas on deck as well and crucially alot of it is shaded. The high posts on the top deck seemed to constantly attract frigate birds to perch on the yacht during navigation. Our chef Omar did a wonderful job preserving the Beluga's reputation of having great food.
The passion and enthusiasm of Darwin (his real name, honest!) our naturalist guide, and the rest of the crew was so strong that it was infectious, rubbing off on the whole group. He was as excited as anyone when we found a rare flycatcher on Santa Cruz or snorkelling with a hammerhead shark off Genovesa Island. The energy, knowledge and fierce coomitment of Darwin and the crew to the conservation of the islands is special and a real credit to the Beluga and the Galapagos Islands.
Everyone on board the Beluga during my cruise was delighted with the quality of the yacht and the service of the staff, a winning combination for a Galapagos holiday - they really made our trip.
