Is it for you?

This is an easy trip. You do have to be able to get on and off the small boats onto the island which can sometimes be a bit of a scramble, but there will always be someone on hand to help with this.

The Galapagos is a year-round destination.

Getting there

Flights from the UK to Quito start from around £900 per person. Flights are much more expensive during the peak season from July to September.

Itinerary

Duration: 11 days

Day 1: Arrive in Ecuador’s capital, Quito.
Day 2: After an interesting city tour, you have an afternoon free to explore on your own.
Day 3: This morning you fly to the Galapagos Islands and join your prestige yacht, the Beluga. With only 8 cabins, you’re assured of a personal service, and the food is great. There is a qualified naturalist guide on board, and s/he joins you for each island excursion.
Days 4-9: You cruise to a variety of islands to meet the inhabitants such as blue-footed boobies, penguins, giant tortoises and marine iguanas. Snorkelling, you might even come face to face with a curious sealion, and dolphins often swim alongside the yachts.
Day 10: Today you fly back to Quito.
Day 11: Time for your flight home.

Pricing guidelines for Galapagos Islands

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights to Quito or Guayaquil will add from about £950 to £1250 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). You will also need internal flights from the mainland to the islands which cost about £375 to £400. A Galapagos National Park tax is payable on arrival - currently $100. A few yachts also offer shorter or longer cruises. Charter cruises are also available. Please ask for details.
