About Sani Lodge

  • Close Panel

Sani Lodge is situated on Lake Challuacocha in the Amazon rainforest and is ideally positioned for exploring Yasuni National Park. It is owned and operated by members of the Sani community and is dedicated to environmental conservation and community projects, as well as making sure guests make the most of their time here.

The accommodation is in spacious thatch-roofed cabins with screened windows and ensuite bathrooms. There are 4 larger cabins ideal for families. The open-sided dining room serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, guests being summoned by the sound of a bamboo horn! Breakfast includes delicious freshly baked bread and exotic fruits. The cuisine uses local ingredients to create international dishes based on vegetables, fish and meat. The bar is a sociable area where guests can chat over a snack or drink, play games or read books. The dining room, bar and lounge all overlook the lagoon offering views of wildlife and wonderful sunsets.

There is no shortage of activities at Sani Lodge. Take the 10 minute walk to the 30 metre birdwatching tree tower for fabulous views across the rainforest canopy. Visit the parrot clay lick where colourful parrots and parakeets gather to eat the clay which aids their digestion. There are several hiking trails waiting to be explored in the rainforest and guests can also enjoy canoeing, fishing, night caiman viewing and night hikes. This is an area known for its variety of bird species and specialist guides can ensure guests see as many as possible. It is also possible to visit a local family for an insight into Kichwa life and culture. The lodge is deeply involved with local community projects and helps with education, agriculture, transport and health.

Pricing guidelines for Ecuador

  • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £750 to £1000 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). Ecuador combines very well with Peru, but can also be linked with Brazil.

For a specific personal quote based on any tailor made itinerary you have in mind, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help you.

  • Example tripPrice per person
  • 2 weeks highlights of Ecuador’s mainland using good standard accommodationBetween £1800 and £2750
  • 2 week trip staying in top end haciendas and lodgesFrom around £3500+
  • 10 days Andes & rainforest holidayBetween £1200 and £1600
  • 16 days Andes & Galapagos (this can be very variable due to Galapagos yacht prices)From about £3200+
