About Hacienda Cusin

  • Close Panel

Hacienda Cusin was built at the beginning of the 17th century and has recently been converted to a country house inn offering a range of guest accommodation.

The hacienda is set in some 7 acres of lush gardens complete with hundreds of trees, patios, fountains, many species of orchids and over 50 species of birds, which guests are welcome to explore using the sefl-guided tour book and map available from reception. The hacienda offers a variety of activities including hiking, climbing, mountain biking and horse riding. It is also possible to visit local villages and, of course, the famous Otavalo market, which is about a 20 minute drive away.

Guests are accommodated in rooms, suites and garden cottages, all with ensuite bathroom, garden and mountain views. The hacienda has a dining room complete with fireplace, bar, library with books and DVDs, garden reading room, games room with billiards, darts and table tennis and a squash court.

The dining room is open for breakfast - a wonderful meal including fresh fruits, juices, homnemade bread and jam, lunch and dinner. Enjoy an atmospheric candle-lit dinner by the log fire. Barbecues are sometimes arranged in the gardens for delicious al fresco dining.

Pricing guidelines for Ecuador

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £750 to £1000 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). Ecuador combines very well with Peru, but can also be linked with Brazil.

For a specific personal quote based on any tailor made itinerary you have in mind, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help you.

  • Example tripPrice per person
  • 2 weeks highlights of Ecuador’s mainland using good standard accommodationBetween £1800 and £2750
  • 2 week trip staying in top end haciendas and lodgesFrom around £3500+
  • 10 days Andes & rainforest holidayBetween £1200 and £1600
  • 16 days Andes & Galapagos (this can be very variable due to Galapagos yacht prices)From about £3200+

I was amazed by the array of activities and facilities at this idyllic 17th Century hacienda, which also has excellent rooms offering a high standard of accommodation. There are reading rooms with complimentary tea stations, children's play areas hidden in the gardens, an organic fruit and vegetable garden, stables for horse riding, games rooms, beautiful vast gardens to relax in and traditional villages and rose farms close by. The pretty blue and white buildings are almost overgrown by an incredible array of blooming flowers and plants to wonderful effect. Located close to Otavalo it is suitable for anyone from couples to families and groups looking to experience a few days in a beautiful authentic hacienda.
