About Pousada do Rio Mutum

  • Close Panel

Pousada do Rio Mutum is set in the Barao de Melgaco, one of the most beautiful regions of the Pantanal, an area famed for its natural beauty and the richness of its wildlife. Guests at the pousada have the opportunity to explore the region in a varierty of ways, from self-guided walks to motor boat trips.

There are 22 self-contained cottages spread amongst 7 hectares of land. All have air conditioning, ceiling fans and minibar. They also have private porches complete with hammocks, where guests can relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of the natural world around them.

There is a lounge and a restaurant serving varied regional dishes. When not out and about, guests can cool off in the swimming pool and relax in the hammocks beneath mango trees.

The Barao de Melgaco occupies some 11,000 square kilometres, only 3% of which is made up of dry land. This area is a natural paradise, with varied scenery and diverse wildlife. The range of activities offered here is extensive and includes walking trails around the pousada, horse riding, canoe trips through the wetlands, bird watching, fishing (permitted between March and October), boat rides and jeep safaris. It is also possible to take a motor boat to visit local bays and explore small rivers and to visit a local village on the Cuiaba River. Photographic safaris on the Mutum River can be arranged.

Pricing guidelines for Brazil

  • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £700 to £900 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). Brazil combines with Peru, Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands due to scheduled flights, so, for example, it makes a good beach stop after Peru or Ecuador.

For a specific personal quote based on any tailor made itinerary you have in mind, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help you.
