Your home for this 7 night cruise is the Motor Yacht Tucano, an 80-foot 18 passenger expedition vessel built in 1997 in the style of the late 19th Century Amazon steam boats. All cabins are outside cabins with en suite facilities, air conditioning and large picture windows which can be opened. There are 4 lower cabins with single beds, 1 cabin with a queen size bed and a single bed, and 4 single upper/single lower cabins. There are generous communal areas on board with a large dining room, a mid-deck balcony around the entire front end of the boat, and a top deck observation deck with sun canopy and hammocks.
The cruise begins in Manaus and travels upstream North-west on the Rio Negro as far as the Rio Jauerperi, about 200 miles from Manaus. There are daily walks in the rainforest, and frequent trips in the launches to explore small streams that branch off the river. On some days there are opportunities to swim from deserted beaches. In the evenings the guides lead discussions about the flora and fauna of the rainforest, and on some nights the river's edge is explored by launch to look for caimans by spotlight.
