Park Eco Lodge or rather the 'Pousada do Parque' is a small lodge located on the Chapada dos Guimarães table mountain next to the National Park. It is a private project comprising a 150 hectare reserve just 60 kilometres north of Cuiaba, the state capital of Mato Grosso at the very centre of South America.
The reserve encompases two seasonal waterfalls, as well as the springs of Independence brook which forms the complex of seven waterfalls inside the National Park.
The lodge's 8 rooms offer simple, comfort and decoration. It was constructed using advanced environmental criteria such as materials like salvaged wood and recycled milk boxes! Water is heated by solar panels and there is a modern treatment plant for waste water and a good recycling policy.
The restaurant serves mostly local cuisine using organic ingredients from the region.
This is a great place to base yourself whilst exploring the Chapada dos Guimarães National Park - for walking, birdwatching and fabulous landscapes.
Around 280 species of birds have been recorded at the lodge. There are some interesting mammals too. Although it is difficult to see them, night camera traps have picked up images of Maned wolf and Puma!
