Pousada Picinguaba is a lovely 10-room hotel located on Brazil’s stunning forested coastline between Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. This is a wonderful location to relax or use as a base to explore the surrounding area, and a spectacular honeymoon suite makes Picinguaba a perfect spot for honeymooners.
The travel time from Rio de Janeiro or Sao Paulo is approximately 3½ hours so most clients will not arrive at the Pousada until the mid-afternoon, ready for a refreshing drink and a dip in the pool overlooking the ocean.
After a relaxing night free of TV, telephone and internet travel 20 miles to the town of Paraty and spend the day exploring this beautiful town and its environs accompanied by a guide. Paraty was founded in the first half of the 17th century and is one of Brazil’s prettiest and oft-photograhed colonial towns. Steep jungled mountains tumble down to an emerald sea, and the waters around Paraty are dotted with 65 islands. The historic centre of Paraty is a UNESCO World Heritage site with beautifully preserved colonial architecture.
After another relaxing night at the Pousada there is a choice of two guided excursions. Either explore the lush coastal tropical forest with its exuberant vegetation and pristine waterfalls, or hike to secluded beaches and swim in the emerald ocean.
