Pousada Lagoa do Cassange

Pousada Lagoa do Cassange is a 13 cabana pousada sandwiched between the ocean and a lake on the Marau Peninsula, a narrow strip of land between the Atlantic Ocean and Camamu Bay, the third largest bay in Brazil. It is about 5 hours south of Salvador overland, and a 45 minute plane ride. The landscape is characterised by pristine beaches, coconut groves, Atlantic forest reserves, mangroves and traditional communities of fishermen and boat builders. It is a beautiful place to relax, gain an insight into traditional coastal life, and escape from the more crowded beaches found further north.

The cabanas are ensuite and each has a small terrace with a hammock. Inside and outside dining is offered and the excellent food is a particular feature of the pousada. The menu largely depends on what the fishermen land each day, and many of the ingredients come from a nearby organic farm.

Various tours can be arranged including a boat trip to explore the islands of Camamu Bay, a jeep tour of the Peninsula and snorkelling.
