La Suite is owned by two French brothers. Francois manages La Suite, whilst Jacques manages La Maison in the Gavea district. La Suite offers exclusive accommodation in the Joatinga district (or ‘Brazilian Beverly Hills!’) of Rio de Janeiro and has a stunning ocean view.

There are 7 stylish rooms decorated in different colours including the black suite with large picture windows on two sides overlooking the ocean, forested hills and city. La Suite has a large lounge and ocean view deck with a small swimming pool. An infinity pool is planned for 2008. Breakfast can be served in the room or dining terrace, and lunch and dinner can be ordered from a menu devised by a well known French chef. It is a short drive down the hill (or walk!) to a semi private beach.

Best time

Rio is a year round destination but gets very busy between December - March and in July. The city is especially busy during Carnaval which takes place from the Friday before Shrove Tuesday to Ash Wednesday.

Meals

Bed and breakfast. Lunch and dinner can be provided by arrangement.

Pricing guidelines for Brazil

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £700 to £900 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). Brazil combines with Peru, Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands due to scheduled flights, so, for example, it makes a good beach stop after Peru or Ecuador.
