Hotel Porta da Lua is set diretcly on the beach near the lighthouse a short stroll from the village of Praia da Lua, with its shops, restaurants and bars. The hotel has just 27 rooms, all with wonderful views of the ocean and reef. Each room has a balcony, complete with hammock, where guests can relax and listen to the sound of the waves on the beach. The recently refurbished rooms are spacious and have TV, 'phone, minibar, safe, air conditioning and ensuite bathroom.
There are two restaurants, one on the beach and the other with fantastic ocean views. The cuisine is a blend of local and Mediterranean and makes good use of the plenitful fresh local seafood. Breakfast is a generous buffet including fresh fruits and home baked cakes.
There is a bar where guests can relax with a cocktail and a separate lounge, also with magnificnet sea views. The atmosphere is relaxed. Guests can spend lazy days sunbathing, swimming or snorkelling, or walk the short distance into Porto de Praia and enjoy the many activities on offer there, including the sea turtle project, whale wathcing (between July and October), various watersports, golf and swimming and snorkelling in the natural pools.
