    About Brazil

    • Close Panel

The appeal of a holiday in Brazil is obvious to many people. Famed throughout the world for its white sand beaches and turquoise seas, vast Amazonian rainforests and lively, diverse culture Brazil is the world''s fifth largest country. It has a huge amount to offer any traveller, so Brazil holidays are diverse and exciting.

Originally home to scattered indigenous tribes, Brazil was colonised in the early 1500s by the Portuguese. Slaves from West Africa were brought in to work on the sugar plantations, mine for gold, and later work on the coffee plantations alongside thousands of European immigrants. An influx of Japanese immigrants in the early 20th Century added to the racial mix which has produced todays cultural diversity, from samba in Rio de Janeiro to candomble in Salvador.

Brazil''s landscape is as diverse as its people with a five thousand mile coastline of pristine beaches, many backed by desert-like dunes or Atlantic rainforest. The wildlife rich Pantanal, the world's largest seasonal wetland, can be found in the south west of the country, Iguazu Falls thunders between the border with Argentina, and about one third of the world's rainforest, including more than half of the Amazon, are found here.

Brazil makes an excellent location for lover's of culture, wildlife or beach relaxation, and there are some beautiful coastal locations for honeymooners. There are also daily flights to and from Peru so the majesty of Machu Picchu high in the Andes, and Brazil's beautiful coast, can easily be combined in a multi centre itinerary. A holiday in Brazil really does offer something for everyone.

    Pricing guidelines for Brazil

    • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £700 to £900 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). Brazil combines with Peru, Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands due to scheduled flights, so, for example, it makes a good beach stop after Peru or Ecuador.

For a specific personal quote based on any tailor made itinerary you have in mind, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help you.

    • All arrangements made by Tribes were excellent and any problems were at a local level

    • Level would have been 'excellent' if it had not been for the less than satisifactory elements mentioned below.

    • Complicated itinerary but all transfers went according to plan including meeting up with our son for the last week. A memorable holiday.

    • The three locations we had chosen were all brilliant. Travel between them turned out to be completely stress-free.

    • Everything ran very smoothly from visiting the locations, hotels, to the pick ups and the guides.
