Brazil

The appeal of a holiday in Brazil is obvious to many people. Famed throughout the world for its white sand beaches and turquoise seas, vast Amazonian rainforests and lively, diverse culture Brazil is the world'’s fifth largest country.  It has a huge amount to offer any traveller, so Brazil holidays are diverse and exciting.

Originally home to scattered indigenous tribes, Brazil was colonised in the early 1500s by the Portuguese. Slaves from West Africa were brought in to work on the sugar plantations, mine for gold, and later work on the coffee plantations alongside thousands of European immigrants. An influx of Japanese immigrants in the early 20th Century added to the racial mix which has produced todays cultural diversity, from samba in Rio de Janeiro to candomble in Salvador.

Brazil'’s landscape is as diverse as its people with a five thousand mile coastline of pristine beaches, many backed by desert-like dunes or Atlantic rainforest. The wildlife rich Pantanal, the world’s largest seasonal wetland, can be found in the south west of the country, Iguazu Falls thunders between the border with Argentina, and about one third of the world’s rainforest, including more than half of the Amazon, are found here.

Brazil makes an excellent location for lover’s of culture, wildlife or beach relaxation, and there are some beautiful coastal locations for honeymooners. There are also daily flights to and from Peru so the majesty of Machu Picchu high in the Andes, and Brazil’s beautiful coast, can easily be combined in a multi centre itinerary.  A holiday in Brazil really does offer something for everyone.
