Botswana Adventurer

Botswana Adventurer includes game drives in Chobe National Park, the second largest national park in Botswana, which is known for its large herds of elephants and variety of wildlife. From here you head to Savuti, within the Madabe Depression, a large hollow left from an ancient lake, with its high density of game. You then travel to Moremi Game Reserve, widely considered one of the most beautiful game parks in southern Africa. You have time to enjoy more marvellous game viewing in both areas. You then have a full day in the Okavango Delta to enjoy mokoro rides and guided walks in this amazing water system, the largest inland delta in the world. Continuing your travels, you head out to the wonderful Makgadikgadi Pans, vast shimmering salt flats on the edge of the Kalahari. You even have the chance to spend the night here, beneath the stars.

Itinerary

Duration: 7 days / 6 nights

Starts and ends in Kasane

Day 1  The safari starts in Kasane in mid morning. You have lunch and spend the afternoon game driving in Chobe National Park, which is world-renowned for its large herds of elephants.

Day 2  You will be driven from Chobe to Savuti, about a 4-6 hour drive, arriving in time for lunch, depending on how much game drive time was spent on the way. You'll have a late afternoon 2-3 hour game drive in Savuti.

Day 3  You'll pack up camp and leave for Moremi early this morning. The journey takes between 4 and 6 hours, depending on game drives enroute and you should arrive in time for lunch. In the late afternoon you'll have a 2-3 hour game drivein Moremi Game Reserve. You will stay the night in either the Khwai, Xakanaxa, Third Bridge or South Gate area.

Day 4  This morning you have an early game drive, then pack up camp and drive to Maun, about 4 to 6 hours. You'll have picnic lunch on the way and should arrive early afternoon. On arrival there is the chance for an optional game drive or scenic flight over the Okavango Delta, time permitting.

Day 5  You journey into the delta in mokoros and take a game walk in search of elephant, wild dog, buffalo, lion and more. The delta is a huge inland water system dotted with thousands of islands that are a haven for a diverse range of wildlife. This is a unique environment where dry land and water collide. You'll spend about 6-7 hours in the delta.

Day 6  From Maun you travel to the Makgadikgadi Pans, approximately a 4 to 6 hour drive. The pans are vast shimmering salt flats on the edge of the Kalahari basin. You'll spend the night sleeping out under a blanket of stars. Many of the famous explorers would have used the baobabs as landmarks in their crossing of the pans.

Day 7  You'll be driven from the pans to Ksanane, 6-8 hours. You will pass through the villages of Gweta and Nata, then through an agricultural area known as Pandamatenga, the only crop producing area in Botswana. Look out for elephants and sable antelope on this drive. You should reach the border at about 2pm.

Pricing guidelines for Botswana

  • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £700 to £1000 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). Botswana combines well with Zambia and South Africa.

For each accommodation on this website you will find an indication of the price. The bands are based on the price per person per night at peak season and are represented by the following values for this country:
